The ÖSD exam is an internationally recognized German language exam for German as a foreign or second language. It is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and is accepted for study, work, and residence purposes.

Depending on the language level, the ÖSD exam consists of several modules that test different language skills:

  • Readingunderstanding written texts
  • Listeningunderstanding spoken language
  • Writingproducing short written texts
  • Speakingoral communication in everyday and professional situations

At our school, the written and oral parts always take place on the same exam day.

On the exam day, all participants first check in at the DIE NEUE SCHULE examination center.

  • Identity check (please bring a valid ID)
  • Organizational information about the exam process
  • Assignment to examination rooms

After check-in, the written exam begins. The individual modules (e.g. reading, listening, writing) are completed one after another. There are no official breaks during the written exam, but restroom visits are of course permitted after consulting the invigilator.

After completing the written exam, participants receive information about the exact procedure and timing of their oral exam. There is a short break before the oral exams begin.

  • Clarity and pronunciation
  • Vocabulary and grammar
  • Communicative skills in different situations

Once the oral exam is completed, the exam day is over.

The ÖSD exams are evaluated centrally.

As soon as the results are available, participants are informed by email.
