By passing this German exam, you demonstrate general language skills at a very advanced level. The exam is aimed at adults who need German for their social and professional life or for their studies.

The examination takes place over a two day period. With this demanding and long exam, we think it makes sense to have a longer break between the two parts of the exam.
On day one, you will take the written examination. The oral exam is then held on the second day. The exam usually starts in the early afternoon on both days. We will inform you of the exact starting time a few days before the exam.

Examination structure telc Deutsch C1
The exam consists of two parts, the written and the oral exam.
The written exam lasts 3 hours 40 minutes plus a break. You will take written exam on the first day of the exam. On the second day of the exam you will take the oral exam.

Preparation for the telc Deutsch C1 exam
In order to successfully pass this demanding exam, you should prepare well and with sufficient time in advance.
A basic requirement is that you meet the language requirements for the exam, i.e. that you have successfully completed at least level C1. A C1 level means that you can express yourself spontaneously and fluently. You are able to understand colloquial expressions and to vary your linguistic style in a targeted manner. And all this with a high degree of grammatical correctness.
If you do not currently meet the language requirements, we recommend that you take part in one of our German intensive courses, German evening courses or private lessons. In the German courses you will train your skills in the four competencies reading, writing, listening and speaking.
For this purpose, please use the extensive information provided free of charge on the telc Institute website. There you will find, among other things, a free mock examination. We recommend that you work through this model test within the time allowed.
During your telc Deutsch C1 examination
A few days before the exam we will send you an e-mail with information about the exam day. Then we will let you know the exact start time.
Be on time for the exam. If you are late, you will not be allowed to take the exam. You are not entitled to a refund of the exam fees.
Bring your identity card or passport with you to the exam.
We will provide you with pens and notepaper. Of course, you can also bring your own pens. Please note that you may only write in pencil on telc examination papers.
No aids such as dictionaries or digital aids are allowed in the exam.
Examination results telc Deutsch C1
The examination results are available approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the examination.
The examination is evaluated by the telc Institute. Express-evaluation, i.e. particularly fast correction at an extra charge, is no longer offered.
In order to pass the overall examination, you must achieve at least 60 percent of the possible maximum score in both the written part of the examination and the oral examination. If you pass one part of the exam and fail the other, it is possible to have the part you passed counted toward the next exam. In this case, you would only have to retake the part of the exam that you did not pass.
